A Nourishing New Era for Hadeco

A Nourishing New Era for Hadeco

Hadeco's legacy dates back to 1946, when we started out as bulb growers servicing both the local and international markets. Over the decades, we’ve grown and evolved, but our commitment to quality has remained steadfast. Today, we are excited to announce a major milestone: refreshing our brand identity for the first time since the 1980s. While our name has become familiar to many, some may not know that well before we were known as ‘Hadeco,’ there was the iconic ‘Lion’ brand mark. This emblem, rich in nostalgia, played a key role in our early identity, and its influence is woven into our story.

Charles Barnhoorn, Director, “We are really proud of our new branding, and how it aligns with where we are at and our approach to the future. Our team is deeply committed to sustainability, and we believe this fresh identity adds energy to our brand while honouring our rich heritage.”

Now, as we look to the future, we are focused on balancing our proud heritage with the demands of a modern, and increasingly sustainable world. This new chapter for Hadeco represents not only a fresh look but also a renewed commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Our New Identity

Our new logo embodies this evolution, fusing tradition with contemporary design. It symbolises growth and renewal, while reflecting our dedication to sustainable practices. Every element has been thoughtfully designed to preserve the essence of Hadeco while making it clear that we are ready for the future.

The new identity also features the tagline “Nourish to Flourish”. These words resonate deeply, reflecting the care given to each bulb, which thrives with proper attention, nutrient-rich soil, and the right nourishment to bloom at its best.

What to Expect

In line with our sustainability goals, we will be rolling out the new branding in phases, carefully preventing unnecessary waste. Keep an eye out for our new packaging appearing at retailers, nurseries, and garden centers across the country. During this transition, we will gradually phase out our old branding, making way for a more eco-friendly and modern look.

Hadeco is a proud member of Farming For The Future. Focusing on healthy soil allows us to have less water runoff, use fewer chemicals on our farms and lessen the impact we have on our soil. This helps to create healthy biodiversity around our farms, in and above the soil. Additionally, we are MPS certified, an international certification managed by the Milieu Programma Sierteelt (Environmental Programme Floriculture). This certification provides guidance and certification for horticulture companies to adopt and implement sustainable practices in their operations.

We are making positive contributions to tackling global climate change by looking inward. Hadeco's efforts have been recognised through the Confronting Climate Change (CCC) Initiative, and we proudly celebrate our Carbon Hero achievement within the agricultural community. Sustainability is close to our hearts, so we endeavour to instill greener practices within our company and operate in an environmentally responsible manner.

Here are six initiatives that contribute to our Carbon Hero status:

  • We use solar energy

  • Improve soil health by using compost, manure and mulching

  • We are part of the enviroserv recycling programme

  • We make use of electric vehicles and trolleys, reducing our fuel usage

  • Harvest rainwater for use in our greenhouses

  • Clear alien species and administer IPM (Integrated Pest Management) which is a way to control insects without relying solely on pesticides

This rebranding is more than just a visual update; it is a reflection of our mission to adapt and grow, while continuing to uphold the values that have defined Hadeco for nearly eight decades. We are excited to share this journey with you and continue our work towards a bright, and sustainable future.
