The 2026 edition of Petals with Purpose: Dahlia Festival has drawn to a close, leaving behind a vivid celebration of colour, connection, and shared experience in the heart of the Magaliesberg. Held on 28 and 29 March, this year’s festival was especially meaningful as Hadeco proudly celebrated 80 years of growing, blooming, and nurturing a love of flowers across generations.

Set among thousands of dahlias in peak bloom, the festival offered a sensory escape into nature—where guests wandered through fields of colour, paused for quiet moments of reflection, and embraced the simple joy of being outdoors. The experience unfolded at a gentle pace, from crisp morning walks through the blooms to relaxed afternoons filled with laughter, intentional moments in nature, and discovery.

One of the weekend’s most memorable highlights was the unexpected sunflower patch—an enchanting burst of gold nestled within the landscape. This surprise moment delighted visitors of all ages, quickly becoming a symbol of the festival’s spirit: uplifting, radiant, and full of wonder.

Beyond the flowers, what truly defined the weekend was a growing sense of community. Garden enthusiasts, families, and first-time visitors connecting effortlessly over a shared love of gardening, flowers and the beauty of nature. Talks and demonstrations added richness to the programme, while thoughtfully curated food and local produce grounded the experience in authenticity and warmth.

Marking 80 years in the horticultural industry, Hadeco’s milestone year added a meaningful depth to the festival. The weekend stood as a living reflection of the brand’s legacy—grounded in expertise, driven by passion, and continually shaped by the community it brings together. In honour of this milestone, guests also celebrating their 80th birthday in 2026 enjoyed complimentary entry to the festival.

At its heart, Petals with Purpose continues to blossom into more than an event. With a commitment to giving back, R30 from every R80 ticket sold will be donated to Hopelands Village and Emergency Control SA—a reminder that when beauty is shared, it can create a lasting and meaningful impact.
