Join us at Little Falls Farm as we open the garden for a hands-on morning with dahlias, in collaboration with Quercus Haus.

    Saturday 1 August, 10am–2pm

Early August sits right at the front edge of dahlia division season on the Highveld — clumps lifted through winter dormancy are ready to be split, and newly divided tubers need 4–6 weeks undercover before frost-free planting in September/October. This session times perfectly with that window.

Surrounded by greenery, with ducks wandering nearby and koi gliding through the water, this is a slow, grounded morning built around one simple skill: how to turn a single dahlia clump into several strong, well-labelled tubers ready for spring. Stroll through the beds and you'll catch the first hyacinth and ranunculus pushing through — a quiet reminder that even in the depths of winter dormancy, the garden is already stirring toward spring.

Please bring your own dahlia clumps and a pair of secateurs if you'd like to divide on the day. Tubers won't be available for purchase on site, but Hadeco stock can be pre ordered in advance or on the day itself, with delivery from late September / early October.

    R150 includes:
    - A complimentary drink and garden stroll through the winter beds, hyacinth and ranunculus just beginning to emerge
    - A Quercus Haus dahlia dividing and starting-up demonstration — where to cut, how to spot a healthy eye, and how to guard against rot
    - Hands-on guidance dividing your own clumps
    - Tips on hardening off and correct first watering, so your divisions don't rot before they've even sprouted
    - Access to shop a curated selection of garden essentials before you leave

In celebration of Women's Month, this is a chance to spend a few unhurried hours honouring the women who grow, nurture, and inspire — or simply to give yourself space to get your hands in the soil.

We'd love to have you with us.
